Excursions
The following Excursions are scheduled during the Mareeba BOG Muster. Please register your interest to attend on the clipboards when you register for the Muster (on arrival).
Lake Barrine Teahouse & Cruise – Wednesday 2nd September
A 60km drive from the Muster site, nestled on the tranquil shores of a 10,000-year-old volcanic crater lake, Lake Barrine Teahouse offers one of Far North Queensland’s most unforgettable dining experiences. Family-owned for generations, this historic teahouse has been welcoming locals and travellers alike with warm hospitality, breathtaking views, and freshly made homemade food.
This activity commences with a 45-minute cruise, then returns to the teahouse for Devonshire Tea. There’s also a 5km circuit walking track around the lake.
The BOG committee has booked three timeslots (there is a limit of 40 persons per cruise):
- 09:00am
- 11:00am
- 01:00pm
Cost is $28.50 per person, to be paid to the committee prior to the 2nd September. Confirmation of numbers required by 30th August.

Skybury Cafe and Roastery – Friday 4th September
A short 8km west of our Muster site is the Skybury Café and Roastery. The café and its working roastery has been the heart of Skybury Farms since its inspirational, architect-designed building opened in 2006, specialising in papaya and coffee plantations and produce. Our time at Skybury will include morning or afternoon tea plus a cinema presentation. A farm tour is available but is separate to our package and will need to be booked and paid for separately. Each tour is limited to 9 people.
The BOG committee has booked three timeslots (there is a limit of 40 persons per sitting):

- 11:00am
- 02:00pm
Cost is $17.50 per person, to be paid to the committee prior to the 4th September. Confirmation of numbers required by 31th August.

Bird Watching with Norty – Saturday, 29th Aug & 5th Sept, 7:30am
Our local BOGer and twitcher (bird watcher) Norton Gill (aka Norty) will take groups of interested members on a bird watching tour either locally (walk there) of a short drive away. The sessions will last approximately 2 hours.
Details will be announced at the Muster and updated on the Muster website.

There are number of activities to explore during free time at the muster. Many of these activities are very popular and early bookings are essential. Please review the following options as booking prior to the Muster is recommended.
