Born in the Isle of Man, I grew up in the West Indies and migrated to Australia when I was seventeen. I studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Sydney University and spent most of my working life in the Defence Industry. I worked on several major platforms, including the ANZAC Ships, Frigates, Minehunters, Sikorsky Helicopters, P-3 Orion Maritime Surveillance Aircraft, Wedgetail AEW&C Jets and the JORN ‘Over The Horizon Radar’. Lesley and I met in Sydney and married, 41 years ago. We raised five children there, then moved to Adelaide for the last ten years of our working life. We’ve always taken the children camping, mostly in tents and often with a trailer. Our children now do the same, with our eight grandchildren. Two years before retiring we bought a Coromal Caravan, then upgraded to a Bushtracker, which we ordered in time to retire in 2014. We now live on two acres just out of town, overlooking the Nambucca River. There’s plenty of room (no reversing!) for travelling Boggers, who want a stopover for a night or two and many have availed themselves of this offer. We have enjoyed being BOG Members and attended our first Muster in 2015 at Mullumbimby, followed by Echuca, Bourke and Corryong, as well as quite a few Mini-Musters. For the last two years we have run the Mini-Muster at Gumma, NSW. Through the BOG we have learned a lot, made many friends and enjoyed the benefits of hard work by previous committees. It’s now time to return the favour to the BOG and we look forward to serving the BOG in whatever capacity we can.
